[TL;DR] We're temporarily closed while our basement undergoes an unexpected renovation.
Last week, Des Moines experienced three nights of heavy rain in a row. Unfortunately, when you're located at the bottom of a hill and the road is all torn up in front of your building, this leads to a wet basement.
It appears the vibrations from the roadwork (and lack of any concrete outside) have disrupted the waterproofing that was implemented during the building's 2020 renovation. We needed to vacate the basement so crews could get to work on repairing it.
If you've been to our shop, you know that most of the store is down there. Thankfully other than a few small things (and all of our carpet and rugs,) water damage was minimal. However, we will be temporarily closed until we can figure out how to make things work in our temporary space.
All of our basement inventory has been moved to the empty retail space upstairs, just two doors east of our showroom in the same building. We will be working diligently to figure out how to make this space work to reopen up there while the basement is fixed.
Please stay tuned for updates on Facebook and Instagram as we navigate this setback. We appreciate your continued support during this time.
So sorry to hear this. You are always on our list when we visit from Chicago. Hope you're back in regular business fast, with minimal damage.
